Other New Things

There have been some new things over the weeks which I haven't written about because they weren't interesting or successful enough. Or, possibly, I just forgot about them. Here they are now.

I've wanted to learn how to pick a lock for about a million years. It's such a cool adventurous skill. I read books all the time about characters with sticky fingers and this particular skill. I thought that I could teach myself, using my own backdoor lock. I googled how to pick a lock using hairpins and made my way through the many YouTube videos. I bent my hairpins in the appropriate ways and started working away at my lock. I did get it to turn halfway, but I never managed to get it to fully unlock.
On my quest I did find another video that told me how to crack a MasterLock combo in just eight tries. I was skeptical at first, but it actually does work. I've decided to start including links to websites (recipes, instructional videos etc.), so here you go.
I also built a bridge out of Kapla which is a type of wooden block. I've built other things with Kapla before but the bridge was new. Unfortunately we were having construction on our house which meant that the bridge collapsed before I could take a picture.

It got late and I hadn't done anything new, so I decided to try a new app on my Ipad. This app is a Ketchapp app, and I've liked a lot of similar apps, such as Twist, and Line Zen. The new app is called Splash. While I did quite enjoy it, I lost interest after a couple days. However, some of the other apps that I had downloaded, I still play and enjoy. Specifically, Swing and Knife Hit. I recommend playing these and other games without WiFi so that you don't have an ad popping up every few seconds.
You can change the color of the blocks if you collect enough yellow ball things to "buy" a new color scheme
Here are some pics of my progress in Splash.

You can also change the background color to black instead of white, which in my opinion makes a prettier splatter, although it also unfortunately makes it much harder to see the black colored ball.

Zoe and I made butter chicken. It was delicious, we had quite a lot, but it went fast. Here's where I found the recipe: https://thekitchenpaper.com/indian-butter-chicken/. Recently I made onion bhaji, which isn't a new thing, since I 've mad it before, but it was just as delicious this time round.

I’ve been lazy, and I’ve skipped a few days. Today, I made a flip book. It was a pretty simple concept, I drew a seed falling into a flower pot and then growing into a flower. I used plain white index cards. In the videos I watched about making flip books the guy used a flat light source to shine through his paper and let him see where his previous lines were. I could have used my iPad as the light source, as I've done in the past when I wanted to trace a drawing of an iceberg, but instead I just used the window as my writing surface.
